After a morning run, I headed out to Sun Studios. What an amazingly cool place; very small and unassuming from the outside. Knowing that I was in the same room that Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, BB King, Howlin' Wolf and many, many others recorded at was overwhelming.
I decided the best way to take it all in was with a Moon Pie, a Coke, and the Host. The Coke was from Mexico where, I didn't realize this, they use real sugar. Apparently in the US, Coke is made with Fructose syrup. We need to use real sugar in our Cokes.

After Sun Studios, I headed over to the Gibson factory. In Memphis almost all of the hollow body electric guitars are made here; I have an ES-335 block and it was cool to see where it was made. The tour walked us from raw wood through final assembly and testing. Although I was tempted to buy a limited edition Elvis Costello Acoustic, no guitars came home with me. Maybe I will have a custom ES-335 made...
Bike night is tonight on Beale. And while I'm tempted to bring the BMW over, I'm a very strict no drink, no drive type guy. So the BMW stays tucked away nice and safe and I will enjoy a some Gumbo and a beer.
Tomorrow: Good bye Tennessee, hello Kentucky.
